Raisins — kismis, as most of us call them — are the sweetest thing in the dry fruit cupboard, and the differences between varieties are worth knowing. Our Kandhari (long) raisins are golden, elongated and softly chewy; Circle Raisins are the familiar round, everyday kind; and Black Raisins are richly coloured with a deeper, almost wine-like sweetness. Each is selected for plumpness and packed fresh at our Jaipur store.
Raisins belong everywhere: soaked overnight and eaten in the morning, stirred into kheer and halwa, baked into cakes and biscuits, or simply kept in a jar on the table. Raisins — questions customers ask
What is the difference between long and round raisins?
Long raisins, like our Kandhari variety, are elongated and golden with a soft chew. Round raisins are the classic everyday kismis. Black raisins are a different variety with a darker colour and deeper sweetness. All three are sold in separate packs so you can compare.
Which pack sizes do raisins come in?
Kandhari long raisins come in 500gm, 250gm and 100gm packs, Black Raisins in a 250gm pack, and Circle Raisins — currently on request — can be enquired about on WhatsApp.
How should I store raisins at home?
Keep them airtight in a cool, dry place away from sunlight. In Jaipur summers we recommend a fridge during the hottest months. They keep their softness best when the pack is sealed after each use.
